Fort Zubara
A visit to this historic location will replay the rich Fort Zubara history. The ancient military fortress was established by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in 1938. It is located at a distance of about 105 km from Qatar's capital, Doha. It used to be a prosperous trading centre. It was also famous for pearl fishing. It is one of the most extensive and best-preserved examples of settlements from the late 18th / early 19th century.
Lofty, dense walls that are massive with widths, surround this prominent Qatar’s ancient fort, which is a meter long and has mass. It was said that the walls of the fort were fabricated and assembled by combining overlapping raw pieces of coral stone, specifically limestone, using a mortar and pestle specially designed for grinding mud.
The fort has a protective roof that was armed with compressed mud. The roof provides shade and coolness to the inhabitants of the fort. The roof of the fort was also erected for the soldiers who patrolled and roamed the surrounding areas in search of enemies. The price per car for this tour package is 175 USD.
